Ganesh Prakash Hukkeri is a politician from the Chikkodi-Sadalga Constituency of Karnataka state. He is the son of veteran congress leader , Babanna Prakash Hukkeri who worked as MLA twice from same constituency on Congress tickets and also won the 2022 MLC seat ( North West teachers ). Being son of veteran congress politician , Ganesh Hukkari joined politics by assisting his father in elections of 2008 and 2013. Though he was an MBA graduate, he preferred politics and started active politics while his father was still active in politics. He got the Congress ticket to contest as MLA from Chikkodi-Sadalga constituency for the third time in 2023 Assembly elections.

Ganesh Hukkeri Wife is ” Swapnali Hukkeri ” who is an architech by education and is a home maker. The couple has a daughter and a son.
Ganesh’s father Babanna Hukkeri was elected as MLC in 2022 in west Teacher’s MLC quota.
The Hukkeri has been dominating the politics of ” Chikkodi -Sadalga ” constituency representing congress party for two decades now. The strong Lingayat background with support of almost 15-20% population of Muslim vote bank , the Congress party candidate with Lingayath tag will always have a cake walk in winning the elections in the constituency surrounnded with small rivers. Though he won with small margin in 2018 elections, the Congress party gave him the ticket for the third time as the party believed that constituency strong vote bank of Lingayath and Muslim combination will help them win the seat. Although lingayaths favor BJP mostly , when the candidate himself is Lingayath , there is a tendency that Lingayat voters get confused and their votes get split. The Strong Muslim votes decide the winner in the constituency.
Ganesh Hukkeri was rumoured to shift to BJP after 2018 elections as he was alleged to be away from congress party activities and politics for few weeks. However, it is believed that due to the dominant vote bank of Muslims ( almost 18%) , the MLA has changed his mind and stayed with Congress party. There was also a leaked phone call of Ganesh who said that he would join BJP under Yedyurappa leadership 100% ” and this went viral in Karnataka.
