Vijay thalapathi Caste is Vellalar not a Dalit
Vijay caste
Vijay’s caste was extremely searched over the internet and some of the dalit activists hailed him for being Dalit or dalit supporter and some dalits went even ahead blindly and claimed Vijay as a Dalit caste man. However, the fact is that Vijay thalapathi alias Joseph Vijay Chandra sekhar belongs to Vellalar community as his father and grand fathers belong to the Vellalar community which is situated across Tamil nadu , some border areas of Andhra pradesh, kerala and also in Srilanka. Vijay’s mother is a Brahmin and she still follows staunch hindu tradition at home and often seen in temples.

Vijay joseph Chandrasekhar, the middle name joseph was never seen or shared publicly till late 2018. When Vijay was sent summons for evading tax by the income tax department in regards to a luxury car vijay bought , for the first name his name as Vijay Joseph Was mentioned on the letter head released to the public. In that letter, it was first officially mentioned as Vijay Joseph. Before that Vijay’s name in over 80+ movies had no mentioning of joseph in the title cards.
He was always known as Villu Vijay or Gilli Vijay only. Vijay Caste was never a debate until he was an actor and his stardom stuck to tamil nadu.
Vijay belongs to Vellalar Caste
Vellalars are staunch Shaivates and still seen millions in Tamil nadu and kerala. Vijay got married to a woman ( Arranged marriage ) Sangeeta Sornalingam who is a daughter of a staunch hindu. Vijay’s Grand father too was a staunch shiva devotee and thats they he named his son as ” Chandra Sekhar “.
Vijay was seen in temples and churches alike. Also it was alleged in the past that Vijay built a Sai baba temple in the land of his own.

Why a debate if vijay is dalit or BC ?

Just because Vijay’s family identifies themselves as christians , the entire Telugu christian community had adopted him. However, the fact is that 95% of Telugu christians are SC converts whereas this is not the case in tamil nadu and Kerala. Kerala and Tamil nadu have christians from all the castes of the society. In Telugu states, it is only SCs who mostly got converted and the perceptions of Christian celebrities like Sanju Samson ( T20 WC members ) , Actor Vijay are often identified by Telugu christians as Dalits only. However they both belong to Back ward caste communities.
