Krishnam Raju desired to See Prabhas as Bhakta kannappa
Krishnam Raju the yesteryear Telugu star actor and former Central minister happens to the uncle of the Pan Indian superstar Prabhas. It is already known that this 83 year old actor had passed away on September 11. His last movie was RadheShyam in which he played the role of an astrologer. Krishnam Raju’s younger brother is the father of the Bahubali Actor and a former Rajya Sabha member from Andhra Pradesh nominated by BJP. Was also a cabinet minister in Mr. Vajpayee’s government.
Krishnam Raju rose to stardom with the movie ” Bhakta Kannappa “.
Bhakta Kannappa was a movie made on the biography of a tribal hunter who was a great devotee of Lord Shiva . He was an ardent devotee of Shiva but was not aware of any rituals or procedures to worship him as per Vedic or Agama procedures. He was the hunter and the only source of food was animal meat. Therefore, he used to offer the same meat to Lord shiva as Prasad in the Temple.
The Famous ” Srikalahasti ” Temple was built in the same place on the banks of river ” Swarna mukhi “.
He finally offers his eyes to Lord Shiva and the pleased almighty appears infront of the blind and returns his eyes back.
Based on this biography of the tribal devotee the movie was made in 1976 which became huge blockbuster. Krishnam Raju played the lead role . Since this actor didnt have any son ( only Two daughters ) , he launched he desired his younger brother’s son Prabhas to act in the remake of the movie.
After Bahubali, Prabhas too expressed his interest in playing the role of Kannappa but due to commitments and availability of the script and makers, he postponed the project.
The movie was supposed to be bankrolled by Krishnam Raju himself with other partners and get released by 2021 . Pandemic had different plans and delayed movie shoots.
