Ghulam Nabi Azad quit congress party by submitting the resignation for both primary membership and other party related appointed posts. The Former chiefminister of Jammu & Kashmir and veteran Congress leader had ridiculed that all the decisions are being made by Rahul Gandhi and his Guards or PAs by destroying consultative mechanism in the congress party. He indirectly hinted out Monarchy in the Indian National congress and disrespect to the seniors. Mr. Azad was a close aide of Sonia Gandhi and infact one of the most trusted leaders in Congress party for crucial matters.

He submitted 5 page document to the Sonia Gandhi explaining his grief and disappointment.

Ghulam Nabi Azad clearly mentioned about the Coterie of Rahul Gandhi which is running the party in a foolish manner , ignoring the senior and tactic politicians and brought down the party to the level of regional parties as it hardly in rule in 2 states and in other 2 states with marginal majority.

He also highlighted how he was personally ill treated by Rahul Gandhi and coterie in the recent times. Mr.Azad clearly used the term ” Inexperienced Sycophants ” running the party.

Some of the Highlights in Ghulam Nabi Azad’s Political career :

  • Joined Congress in mid 70s and served the party for 40+ years.
  • Was president of Youth Congress from 80-82
  • Central minister in Rajiv Gandhi, P.VN.Rao and Manmohan Cabinets.
  • Chief minister of Jammu & Kashmir in 2005-08
  • Congress Party Incharge for various states during Elections and had success rate of almost 85%.

Ghulam Nabi Azad is known to have developed good relations with the BJP high command in the recent times. He received “Padma Bhushan” award in the March 2022. Mr.Azad was one of the few Congress politicians who didnt receive much backlash from his opponents unlike other Congress old stalwarts like Ahmed Khan, Kapil Sibal, Digvijay Singh, Kamal nath etc…
