Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canal breached due to poor quality. Crores loss to Telangana villages.
Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canal which passes through Nalgonda district had breached due to poor quality construction. At Mupparam Village , canal breached for almost 30 metres because of which the Water flooded into the villages and the market area of Nidamanuru town. Around 2000 acres of fertile agricultural land is reportedly flooded and filled with Sand. The market area of Nidamanuru town started flooding around 07:00 PM and by midnight most of the shop were under water leading to the permanent damage of crores of worth products.
Ganesh Mandap devotees saved Govt Hostel kids
The water flooded suddenly around 07.00 pm and the entire hostel which is located in Nidamanuru town received huge water as it is located not much away from the canal area. Around 90 kids were in panic along with warden and tried ways to get out of the area. The near by Ganesh Mandap youth who were busy in Pooja heard about the mishap and ran to help the kids. All the kids were shifted to a Function hall at the other side of the town for the night stay.
The Nagarjuna Sagar Authorities though stopped the water flow in to the canal ,the water ran through the leakage till evening.
Project SE Dharma Naik blames Rats and Whirlpool
Irrigation SE denied it as an officials negligence. He claimed this is a sudden incident and not an issue arose due to lining damage. Mr. Naik said , ” Due to the holes maid by Rats the air passes through it when whirlpools take place in canal and make them big and has got nothing to do with Human intervention or quality of construction”. He added that officials are supervising all canals whenever required.
