Short Summer rains leading to clogged roads and drainages in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad Summers are generally pleasant and City residents usually love to go out in the weekend to visit places like tankbund, Necklace road, Durgam cheruvu, malls , temples etc…Gone are those cool summer evenings as the occasional showers are leading to heavy traffic jams and water clogged roads. Added to this huge inconvenience, the dangerous Man holes and drainages leading to deaths are scaring the public so much that most of the city residents are avoiding going out even in the weekend. The waterlogged roads, bloated and overflowing drainages, scary disconnected Electric wires etc have lead to death of three people in the last 45 days in the city of Hyderabad main city causing to these worries.

A 10 year old girl fell in to the open man hole early in the morning last week when she went to pick a milk packet along with her elder brother in Kalasiguda near Secunderabad. Her body was pulled out from the near by drainage after few hours.

Another boy died in neighbourhood of jubileehills while playing around by accidentally falling in a water fill pot hole dug for unknown thing.

In March , due to heavy rains an electric Service wire fell on the foot path and a man ” Praveen Mudiraj ” who went for morning walk accidentally stepped on it and lost his life. This happened in Padma Rao near Secunderabad.

The consecutive incidents are causing lot of fear in Hyderabad residents leading them to stay indoors in this summer holidays. Small rains even for less than hour are causing power cuts and jam packed roads taking hours to get cleared off the vehicles. The logged water leading to the traffic jams causing huge inconvenience to the vehicle drivers.

If Summer scares like this, how the Monsoons going to be ?

Hyderabadis are now worried about the upcoming Monsoon which will hit in June 3rd week. The Regular rain during July and August can lead to extreme water logging and flooding situation in hyderabad . The 2020 Floods of Hyderabad are the major reason why the ruling BRS party lost 42+ corporate seats to its opposition BJP as the City residents are highly upset with the poor management of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. From 101 seats in GHMC municipality in 2017 , the KCR’s party fell to around 55 .

Multiple deaths took place in the past floods due to open pot holes and drainage issues in the city. The huge traffic jams during the rains are the biggest irritating aspects for the city residents. The low lying Colonies are once again living in fear as most of the lakes near by are encroached and built properties illegally leading to the water logging and drowing of many streets under water during the monsoons.

If Government doesnt stay alert and give it’s best this time, it is highly likely that BRS party would lost 10+ Assembly seats to the opposition this time as the public have already chosen BJP as the second choice during GHMC elections and a sudden tilt lead to losing of over 42 corporate seats to the Saffron party.

BRS had to join hands with MIM to elect the Mayor finally.
